About Great Bear
Come to Great Bear this winter and bring the entire family along! Whether you downhill ski, cross country ski, snowboard or tube, we're the place you want to be this winter!
We offer 12 downhill trails, a custom built beginner area this featuring a NEW conveyor lift, a full terrain park serviced by a quad chairlift AND a handle tow. Great Bear continues to invest in snowmaking and grooming equipment to help insure some of the most consistent conditions in the Midwest!

Try downhill tubing at the Kirby Family Tubing Park! Four lanes of thrills and chills -- and no more walking up the hill, since the Park is outfitted with a custom-built surface-lift system.

Great Bear is conveniently located just 3 miles east of Sioux Falls, SD. Click here for directions to our park.

History
Great Bear Ski Valley opened to the public in the late 1960s. After several changes in ownership, the City of Sioux Falls Park and Recreation Department purchased the area in 1991 and entered into a partnership with Great Bear Recreation Park, Inc., a non-profit organization, to co-manage the area.

About Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls is a progressive community of approximately 150,000 in the southeast corner of South Dakota. Sioux Falls is the recreation, entertainment and shopping hub of the region.
